Happy Monday everyone, This week we are excited to offer the Home Alone program to all grade 4 students., with each of the grade 4 classes getting their course on the following days 4C - Tuesday 4R - Wednesday 4/5 - Thursday Students will be excited to get their Thursday Toonie treat. This week's treat is a delicious "Donut Nest". So far we have 112 pre-orders in our system for the remainder of the year. Thursday treats will be available for purchase in limited quantities for a toonie each week. As a reminder for parents, earlier this year PRPS announced an adjustment to the school calendar for the year relating to Easter holidays. This year holidays begin on Saturday, March 27, with students returning to classes on Tuesday, April 6. Have a terrific weekend everyone.

Looks like the leprechaun’s invaded the grade 4 classrooms this morning. It was quite the scene.

We are very excited to announce that this year we will be offering the Home Alone course for each of our grade 4 students as part of their in-school programming. The Home Alone program is designed to provide children with the necessary skills, knowledge, and confidence to be safe and responsible when home alone for short periods of time. It will help them to understand how to prevent problems, handle real-life situations, and keep them safe and constructively occupied. Topics covered will include: - Establishing a routine - House key is your responsibility - strangers - telephone - emergencies - basic first aid - internet safety All students will receive a certificate of attendance. While this course will provide students with basic knowledge and skills, it is important to note that parents are always the final deciders of when they feel their child is ready to be home alone. The Home Alone course will be delivered to each of our grade 4 classes during the week of March 22-26. We would like to thank Michelle Kuzik for offering this program to our students.

Happy Monday everyone, I hope everyone had a terrific weekend. This week we look forward to connecting with parents for our parent-teacher interviews on Monday and Wednesday. This Wednesday is St. Patrick's Day. We encourage all students to wear green to help celebrate the occasion with a little Irish fun. On Thursday, students will enjoy a little "Pot O'Gold Punch" as their Thursday Treat. This is 7-Up, along with a little green food colouring, some whipped cream and a rainbow licorice . Students will also be recognized for Honour Roll this Thursday afternoon. We will be posting Honour Roll recipients shortly after the school assembly for parents to view. Parents are reminded that this Friday is an SI Day. Students will be able to enjoy a long weekend as school staff participate in learning activities in the school. This Friday staff will be participating in activities pertaining to school wellness, as well as First Nations culture and heritage. School Yearbooks - New and old We are working on the finishing touches for last year's yearbooks. As a reminder, these yearbooks will be provided free to all gr. 4-6 families from last year through funds raised from our bottle recycling program. These yearbooks, should be going home to families shortly after our return from Easter Break. We also have a small supply of yearbooks from past years that we would like to pass on free of charge. If you would like one of the following yearbooks, please contact the school to let me know. We are looking forward to our tasty treats that will happen at MWS every Thursday, starting today. TOONIE TREAT THURSDAY! Parent council is excited to start Toonie Treats at Margaret Wooding School! Some students may remember enjoying these delicious treats at IF Cox. Each Thursday a treat will be prepared and sold as a dessert during lunch hour. Some examples of treats include: cupcakes, fruit kabobs, orange julius smoothies, popsicles and more! To assist with supplies and ensuring we are following all regulations for COVID, preorders are necessary. This will start Thursday, March 11 and continue until Thursday, June 10, resulting in a total of “12 Treat Days.” Parent Council is offering a deal to purchase all 12 days for $20. To purchase you can log into your School Cash Online - here you will find a “new” item to add to your cart, or you can send $20 to school with your child. This deal will be available until Thursday, March 25th. You are still welcome to send a Toonie with your child on Thursdays to purchase for just that day, but please be advised that there may not always be enough (we will do our best, and hope to get a better understanding of numbers as time progresses) We thank you in advance for your support.
